The Stronghold of Arignano is a landmark for all the surrounding area, thanks to its structure and dominant position above the village.
It is a unique example of military Gothic architecture in the Monferrato area, survived well preserved up to the present day. The building dates back to the XI century. The function of the castle was originally defensive, but became residential at the beginning of the XIII century, when the basement of the bastions was implemented with the construction of a central palace, that was never to be completed because of the raids by Frederick Barbarossa first and by the mercenary Federico Cane after, who took the stronghold. The feudal lord desire of expressing his power over the area will be abruptly broken, like the destiny of the building, that was to remain unfinished and abandoned up to the beginning of 2016, year when the renovation works begun.
